Meter Down is an auto-rickshaw driving game set in a pixel-art Chennai. Haggle a fare, beat the traffic, wait for the cow. Out 12 March 2027 on Steam, Nintendo Switch and iOS.
You are Murugan, nineteen years an auto driver, working the evening shift between Thiruvanmiyur and T. Nagar. Every fare starts with a three-second haggle and ends with a tip, a lecture or nothing. Between the two are fourteen kilometres of hand-drawn Chennai: Marina Beach Road at dusk, Ranganathan Street at ten at night, Velachery underwater in the north-east monsoon. Shifts last twelve minutes. There are sixty of them, then an endless mode with leaderboards split by city.
Meter Down is Neon Arcade's third game and the first with the full six-person team. The pixel art is by Meera Krishnan; the soundtrack, twenty-two chiptune Carnatic tracks, is by Divya Ramesh. It has 41,286 Steam wishlists and won Best in Show at IGDC Hyderabad 2025.
Neon Arcade was founded in 2021 by Arjun Venkataraman after seven years at a Bengaluru studio. Kolam, a free puzzle game about drawing rangoli, came out of a 48-hour jam in 2022 and has 31,000 downloads. Kaapi Break, a one-thumb café game, sold 18,400 copies on Steam and iOS in 2024 and paid for the office. Meter Down has been in production since January 2025.
Cream on dark, violet on light. Keep the joystick to the left of the wordmark and do not recolour the ball. Clear space equals the height of the ball.
