“Two working parents, a six-year-old, and Revathi's parents for three months every year. Make it easy to keep tidy, give the grandparents a room that is kind to a bad knee, and a pooja corner that isn't a cupboard.”

Pick a room on the plan to jump to it.
A teak arch you see as the front door opens, lit from inside so it glows at dusk. The lamps sit on a stone ledge instead of inside a cupboard.
The sofa backs onto the long wall so the room reads from the door. Toys live in the low teak unit on the right: eleven drawers, all the same size, so anyone can put things back.
Six chairs, two with arms for Revathi's parents. The pendants hang 30 inches above the table, low enough to keep the light on the plates.
Counter at 33 inches, an inch and a half under standard, for a cook who is 5′2″. A tall unit holds the mixer-grinder and the 10 kg rice drum.
The bed sits at 21 inches so knees don't complain. Wardrobe doors slide instead of swinging into the path to the bathroom.
The swing hangs from a steel beam we added under the slab, with two feet clear on each side. It faces the trees along the Adyar.
Handed over on 14 March 2025, two days late, ₹20,40,000 against a ₹21 lakh estimate.
